Director of Economic Empowerment
The University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors is hiring a Director of Economic Empowerment. Economic empowerment is a key element in helping trafficking survivors reach their self-determined goals. The Director of Economic Empowerment will build a portfolio of comprehensive economic empowerment programs to respond to this critical need. This is a highly visible leadership position as the Economic Empowerment Program is a main feature of the SAFE Center’s long- term strategic plan. This position will provide strategic direction, innovation, capacity building, and management to a range of empowerment services that will assist human trafficking survivors to become financially empowered, independent, and self-sufficient.
Managing Immigration Attorney
The University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors is seeking a Managing Immigration Attorney, dedicated to the SAFE Center’s mission, to provide expert legal immigration counsel and advice, coordinate legal services delivery, supervise and empower a talented legal immigration team, help grow and expand the practice, and provide direct trauma-informed immigration legal services. This position requires a balance of supervision, management, and direct representation of clients. This position operates within a multidisciplinary services context and interacts with the SAFE Center’s social services, clinical services, and economic empowerment teams on shared matters.
Senior Strategic Communications Specialist
The University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors and the Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking applicants for a full-time Senior Strategic Communications Specialist. This role is responsible for supporting the Graduate School’s internal and external communications related to two initiatives: (1) University of Maryland SAFE Center, and (2) the holdings of the Physician Assistant education, research, and advocacy program. The incumbent will be responsible for generating and maintaining high impact communication plans in alignment with the SAFE Center’s and the Physician Assistant Program’s overall vision and goals, developing and implementing content marketing strategies, and completing other special projects as they arise. The incumbent will report jointly between the Executive Director of the SAFE Center and the Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and will be responsible for devising communications strategies, social media, web pages, and more. The incumbent will split their time equally between the two initiatives. This position works with SAFE, located in College Park and with the Graduate School, located in Baltimore. The hired individual will need to travel between both locations and may have the option to telework.
Volunteer Position – Pro Bono Network Coordinator
The University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment Center for Human Trafficking Survivors (SAFE) Center is seeking a public service-oriented attorney interested in volunteering on a part time basis to help us grow our pro- and low-bono network of Maryland-based lawyers that practice in areas of law that survivors of sex and labor trafficking need to rebuild their lives.
